Preview: Evergreen Valley Cougars vs. Branham Bruins

The Evergreen Valley Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Branham Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Evergreen Valley sitting on 12 straight victories and Branham on four.

Last Tuesday, Evergreen Valley strolled past Christopher with points to spare, taking the game 59-42.

It was another big night for Ryka Aprameyan, who shot 5-for-10 from long range and dropped a double-double on 39 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Evergreen Valley's points. Xuan-Mai Nguyen was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds and six assists.

Meanwhile, Branham didn't have too much trouble with Leland at home on Tuesday as they won 55-38. Branham pushed the score to 49-21 by the end of the third, a deficit Leland cut but never quite recovered from.

Evergreen Valley is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Branham, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2.

Evergreen Valley skirted past Branham 60-57 in their previous meeting back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Branham's Quinn Godfrey, who scored 44 points. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Evergreen Valley still be able to contain Godfrey? There's only one way to find out.
