Baseball Game Preview: Pawnee Indians vs. Carrollton Hawks

The Pawnee Indians will head out to take on the Carrollton Hawks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Pawnee's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.

Mt. Pulaski hit Pawnee with a eight-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians fell just short of the Hilltoppers by a score of 11-10. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Hilltoppers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Carrollton and Carlinville meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Hawks walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Cavaliers. The win was some much needed relief for the Hawks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Reed Schnettgoeke, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Buddy Holmes was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Carrollton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Carrollton's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Pawnee, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.

Pawnee got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Carrollton by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
