Baseball Recap: Cass Starts off Right with Win over Sprayberry

Cass had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets with a sharp 13-7 victory on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Colonels have posted since March 28, 2024.

Hunter Lovett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Nic Wright was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. What's more, he also racked up two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Landon Lamb was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

This is the second loss in a row for Sprayberry and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cass will challenge Adairsville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sprayberry, they will take on Denmark at 5:55 p.m. on February 19th.
