Softball Recap: Union Drops Highest Score of Season Against Warrenton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union). Everything went their way against the Warrenton Warriors on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

Chloe Richardson looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Millie Koenigsfeld, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Evie Poggas, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Union's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Warrenton, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Coming up, Union will square off against Silex at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Owls have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Warrenton, they will venture away from home to square off against Washington at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
