Baseball Recap: Xavier Takes a Loss

Xavier extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 6-9. They fell 8-4 to the St. Peter's Eagles. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

As for St. Peter's, their win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.

For St. Peter's part, Freddie Avitto looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Avitto has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ayden Rosario, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Salvatore Fragiglio, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

As of now, neither Xavier nor St. Peter's have any future games scheduled.
