Football Recap: Fairhope Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Trey Garner and Andres Hunt + How To Watch

Fairhope entered their contest against Mary G. Montgomery on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Pirates took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 35-20 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Fairhope's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Andres Hunt, who picked up 144 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and Trey Garner, who threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns. Hunt showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 54 yards.

Kamron Smith was his usual excellent self, picking up 75 receiving yards and one TD, while also rushing for 119 yards for Mary G. Montgomery. Chad Schrimspire was another key player, rushing for 62 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries.

Fairhope's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Mary G. Montgomery, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairhope will take on Daphne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 31 points in their last seven matchups. As for Mary G. Montgomery, they will face off against Baker at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
