Soccer Game Preview: Poly vs. Verdugo Hills

Poly hasn't had much luck against Verdugo Hills recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Poly Parrots will look to defend their home pitch against the Verdugo Hills Dons at 4:00 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Poly is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Monroe. The contest was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Parrots couldn't quite close it out.

Verdugo Hills, on the other hand, haven't lost since January 6th and they too continued that trend. Their defense stepped up to hand Arleta a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Dons' winning goal came courtesy of Amy Valdez.

Verdugo Hills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those ten games. As for Poly, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
