Softball Recap: Newton County Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Meridian HomeSchool on Thursday, Newton County Academy came back down to earth. The Generals lost 12-3 to the Simpson Academy Cougars on Saturday. If the Generals were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Cougars when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Newton County Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Simpson Academy, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1.

Newton County Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Laurel Christian at 6:30 p.m. on the 28th. As for Simpson Academy, their road trip will continue as they head out to face Briarfield Academy at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
