Recap: North Saxons vs. Lakewood Lancers

The North Saxons had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.1 points), and they went ahead and made it 11 on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 60-45 win over Lakewood. That's two games straight that North has won by exactly 15 points.

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nyemah King, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was King's 18th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cristina Jones, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and seven steals.

North is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Lakewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on West at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Lakewood and Compton will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Compton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1276th, while Lakewood is ranked 47th).
