Soccer Game Preview: Chapel Hill vs. Douglas County

Chapel Hill is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Chapel Hill face off against Douglas County at 6:30 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Chapel Hill and Villa Rica, and Villa Rica kept the tradition alive. Chapel Hill came up short against Villa Rica on Friday, falling 4-1. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly three goals.

Meanwhile, Douglas County managed to keep up with Alexander until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Douglas County lost 3-0 to Alexander. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 180th, while the Cougars are ranked 37th).

Chapel Hill's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Douglas County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.

Chapel Hill beat Douglas County 3-1 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chapel Hill since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
