Basketball Game Preview: High Tech SD Storm vs. Hoover Cardinals

High Tech SD is 1-6 against Hoover since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The High Tech SD Storm will face off against the Hoover Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

High Tech SD will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Madison, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. High Tech SD claimed a resounding 61-21 win over Madison. The Storm have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Poema Strong and Kylei Hayward were among the main playmakers for High Tech SD as the former dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards and the latter posted 17 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Strong has scored at least a third of High Tech SD's points. Aliya Khalighi was another key player, putting up 12 points.

High Tech SD smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Hoover came into Friday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by a 46-25 margin over Academy of Our Lady of Peace on Friday.

High Tech SD pushed their record up to 13-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Hoover, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-11.

High Tech SD skirted past Hoover 50-48 in their previous matchup on January 10th. The rematch might be a little tougher for High Tech SD since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
