Soccer Game Preview: Rio Americano vs. Ponderosa

The Rio Americano Raiders will square off against the Ponderosa Bruins at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Americano's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Tuesday, Rio Americano had just enough and edged Bella Vista out 2-1. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Broncos are ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tristan Chaussee and Ily Quicho Mathiesen scored both of Rio Americano's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Meanwhile, Ponderosa kept a clean sheet against Christian Brothers on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Falcons.

Rio Americano's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Ponderosa, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6-4.
