Softball Recap: Poplar Bluff Triumphs

Poplar Bluff won against Central on Thursday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Mules didn't even let the West Plains Zizzers on the board, marking the Mules' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Mules in their matchups with the Zizzers: they've now won three in a row.

Not much got past Elizabeth Blancett, who gave up just three hits to keep West Plains off the board.

At the plate, Lillie Johnson and Kyleigh Edmundson did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Edmundson went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave Edmundson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addison Valenzuela, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Poplar Bluff was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Poplar Bluff now has a winning record of 4-3. As for West Plains, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Poplar Bluff will take on Chaffee at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Plains, they will square off against Bolivar at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
