Football Game Preview: Leonardtown Raiders vs. McDonough Rams + How To Watch

The Leonardtown Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the McDonough Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. McDonough took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Leonardtown, who comes in off a win.

Leonardtown will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up nine points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against La Plata on Friday. The Raiders really took it to the Warriors for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-0 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Raiders had established a 50-point advantage.

Leonardtown's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bradley Hager, who rushed for 24 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 61 yards and one TD on only five passes. The dominant performance also gave Hager a new career-high in passer rating (142.5). Grant Futch was in the mix as well, providing Leonardtown with one touchdown.

Meanwhile, McDonough was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 49-9 loss at the hands of Huntingtown. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 33rd).

Leonardtown's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for McDonough, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Everything came up roses for Leonardtown against McDonough when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
