Pueblo West is a perfect 7-0 against Doherty since September of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cyclones will face off against the Spartans at 3:30 p.m. Pueblo West will be strutting in after a win while Doherty will be coming in after a loss.
Pueblo West barely beat Mead the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cyclones were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Mavericks on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Cyclones, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kassidy Donley looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Pueblo West got a massive performance out of Acelyn Duran, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Duran a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kiana Lambert, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Doherty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 12-6 to Smoky Hill.
Sophia Jaramillo put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since September 4th. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles.
In other batting news, Cayla Baker made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Laila Thurman also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Pueblo West is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Doherty, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
Everything went Pueblo West's way against Doherty in their previous meeting on September 4th, as Pueblo West made off with a 16-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cyclones since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
