Baseball Game Preview: Andover Panthers vs. Fillmore Eagles

Andover is 0-10 against Fillmore since April of 2019 but things could change on Sunday. The Panthers will face off against the Eagles at 1:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Andover comes in on three and Fillmore on 11.

On Friday, Andover needed a bit of extra time to put away Bolivar-Richburg. They had just enough and edged out the Wolverines 9-8. Nine seems to be a good number for the Panthers as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Fillmore earned a 4-1 victory over Keshequa on Friday.

Malcom Nusbickel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Fillmore let Jared Boon and James Hillman run wild. Boon went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run, while Hillman went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That triple was Boon's first of the season.

Fillmore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Andover's record now sits at 9-4. As for Fillmore, their record is now 12-1.

Andover couldn't quite get it done against Fillmore in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 7-2. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
