Basketball Recap: Newport Christian's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Newport Christian put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Samueli Academy Firewolves by a score of 62-50. That's more bragging rights for the Seahawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the loss, Samueli Academy still got an impressive performance from Kennedy Cortez, who posted 23 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Cortez continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Genavivie Medrano, who had 12 points.

Newport Christian will take on The Webb Schools at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Samueli Academy, they will face off against San Gabriel Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Samueli Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
