Basketball Recap: Lower Lake Comes Up Short

Lower Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fort Bragg Timberwolves. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-43 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Lower Lake lost, don't look at Brooke Benson. Despite the final result, she went 5 for 11 en route to 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Benson is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Jamiya Lee-Ayers was another key player, putting up six points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Lower Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Lower Lake's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Fort Bragg, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-11.

Lower Lake has already played their next match, a 51-37 defeat against Middletown on the 31st. As for Fort Bragg, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-33 win against Clear Lake on the 31st.
