Softball Recap: Ord Takes a Loss

Ord lost against Cozad back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Chanticleers took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Haymakers.

Alexandra Jeffres spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and eight unearned) runs on 12 hits.

On the hitting side, Allison Wheeler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Elle Jess, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Ord's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Cozad, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Ord has already played their next game, an 11-0 loss against O'Neill on the 13th. As for Cozad, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Crete on the 13th.
