Nick Mergen of Albany ran for the longest rushing play in Granite Ridge this season against Fergus Falls last week. Mergen's team bested the Otters as he sprinted for 70 yards on the play and finished with 118 in all.

St. Cloud Cathedral took down Mora 53-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Mergen provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Albany topped Fergus Falls. Mergen's favorite target this week was Andrew Salzl, who caught 2 passes for 18 yards.

Hunter Smith was a key player and the best on defense this week as Zimmerman fell to Big Lake. The 5-foot-10 senior forced 1 fumble and recorded 1 fumble.

Mergen was the best running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 118 yards as Mike Kleinschmidt's team fell to the Hornets. Teammate Shane Olmsheid added to the ground attack by rushing for 91 yards.

Zimmerman's Matthew Dorso and Lunning have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-9 quarterback Dorso has thrown for 600 yards this season, while Lunning has 18 catches for 350 yards. The Huskies' Mergen leads the league in rushing yards with 580.

Becker and Orono played the closest game in Granite Ridge this week, with Becker eventually emerging with a 28-26 victory.
