Football Recap: Ozark's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Ozark ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against the Mena Bearcats by a score of 36-28. For the Hillbillies, this counts as revenge for the 35-18 victory the Bearcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Ozark didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Colten Rosson and John Skolarski. Skolarski has been hot recently, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Another thorn in Mena's side was Adden Richardson, who made 17 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

The win (which was Ozark's third in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points over those games. As for Mena, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Coming up, Ozark will take on Pottsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mena, they will square off against Waldron at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bearcats will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 46.33 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
