Softball Recap: Hazelwood East Takes a Loss

After flying high against Normandy on Tuesday, Hazelwood East came back down to earth. The Spartans lost 12-6 to the Riverview Gardens Rams on Wednesday. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 19-6.

Da'Mya Burnette was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Mayfield, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Hazelwood East has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Riverview Gardens, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-6 record.

Hazelwood East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Riverview Gardens, they will head out to challenge Hazelwood Central at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
