Basketball Recap: Tri-Valley Takes a Loss

After flying high against Nativity BVM last Tuesday, Tri-Valley came back down to earth. The Tri-Valley Bulldogs were dealt a 59-28 defeat at the hands of Marian Catholic on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 448th, while Marian Catholic are ranked 61st).

Tri-Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ava Snyder, who posted 12 points and six rebounds, and Avery Miller, who had 11 points and six rebounds.

Marian Catholic found their leader in freshman Addy Marek, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Marek also set a new season-high mark in assists with six. Another player making a difference was Addison Fritz, who earned 15 points along with five assists and four steals.

Tri-Valley's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Marian Catholic, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri-Valley will host Millersburg at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Tri-Valley is facing Millersburg at the right time seeing as Millersburg is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Marian Catholic, they will be taking part in a tournament against Oley Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Marian Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.6 points per game this season.
