Football Recap: Circle Starts Season with Win on the Road

Circle had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They breezed past the Field Kindley Golden Tornado to the tune of 55-8 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their matchups with the Golden Tornado: they've now won three in a row.

Franklin Ekue went supernova, rushing for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Stobart, who threw for 128 yards and two TDs while completing 80% of his passes.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Circle, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ekue, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Circle didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 34-17 defeat against McPherson on the 12th. As for Field Kindley, they have also already played their next game, a 55-0 loss against Chanute on the 12th.
