Football Recap: Sulphur Springs Piles Up the Points Against Aubrey

Sulphur Springs strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They claimed a resounding 45-14 win over the Aubrey Chaparrals. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Wildcats just coasted through the last quarter.

A big part of Sulphur Springs' victory came down to the chemistry between Deuce Timmons and his top target Jaxson Haire. Timmons threw for 190 yards and four TDs while completing 73.7% of his passes while Haire gained 175 total yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Haire a new career-high in receiving touchdowns (two).

Sulphur Springs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 200 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 164 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Sulphur Springs' defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Tj Bolden, Alex King, and Carter Anderson, who each picked up one sack apiece. Bolden was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Sulphur Springs' win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Aubrey, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Coincidentally, Sulphur Springs and Aubrey will both be playing Celina the next time they take the field. The Chaparrals will host the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on October 10.
