Basketball Recap: Desert Christian Skates Past Legacy Christian Academy with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Desert Christian). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Legacy Christian Academy Lions 77-25. With the Knights ahead 44-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Leading Desert Christian to victory were Corynn Smith and Ava Armstrong. Smith dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Armstrong went 9 of 17 on her way to 20 points and five steals. What's more, Smith also racked up four blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Faith Avila was another key player, going 6 for 9 on her way to 12 points.

The win (which was Desert Christian's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Legacy Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Christian will venture away from home to face off against Vasquez at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Legacy Christian Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hillcrest Christian at 4:00 p.m. on January 21, 2025.
