It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Troup County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Callaway Cavaliers 8-7. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Cason Spears tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned runs any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Troup County's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Davis Moncus, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Moncus also put up a double, which washis first of the season. Torreion Delaney was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Troup County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Troup County now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Callaway, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Troup County will venture away from home to challenge Carrollton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Callaway, they will host Heard County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
