After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Forsyth, Lanier was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Peachtree Ridge Lions 7-6. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Longhorns as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Lanier got a great performance from Anisha Daniel as she pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Daniel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sophia Baessler was excellent, going 1-for-5 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Carol Rubio-Hurtado, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
The win got Lanier back to even at 3-3. As for Peachtree Ridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Coincidentally, Lanier and Peachtree Ridge will both be playing Providence Christian Academy the next time they take the field. The Lions will head out to face the Storm at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Longhorns will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
