Basketball Game Preview: Shamokin Area Indians vs. Central Columbia Bluejays

Shamokin Area hasn't had much luck against Central Columbia recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Shamokin Area Indians will take on the Central Columbia Bluejays at 7:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Central Columbia will be up against a hot Shamokin Area squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went Shamokin Area's way against Mifflinburg on Saturday as Shamokin Area made off with a 59-34 victory. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while the Wildcats are ranked 555th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Central Columbia hadn't done well against Southern Columbia Area recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Central Columbia blew past Southern Columbia Area 59-38. 59 seems to be a good number for the Bluejays as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Central Columbia's victory was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. As for Shamokin Area, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.

Shamokin Area suffered a grim 63-39 defeat to Central Columbia in their previous matchup on January 10th. Can Shamokin Area avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
