Recap: Downey Vikings vs. Sonora Raiders
The Downey Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Sonora by a score of 58-55. Downey has not had much luck with Sonora recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Symantha Barnett, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Amanda Velazquez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
It was another big night for Kiana Graham, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 1 assists for Sonora. Graham continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Liana Hwang, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
Downey's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Sonora, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Downey won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Clovis East at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th. Sonora's road trip will continue as they head out to face Portola at 5:00 p.m. on December 15th. Portola will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
