Baseball Game Preview: Gainesville Red Elephants vs. Seckinger Jaguars

For the second straight game, Gainesville will face off against Seckinger. Gainesville will take on Seckinger at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Gainesville has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Gainesville's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Seckinger 1-0.

Not much got past Cohen Miller, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Seckinger off the board. Miller also tossed no walks, which is notable because Gainesville is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Gainesville's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was CJ Saudarg, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Gainesville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Seckinger's loss dropped their record down to 13-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Gainesville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Seckinger struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts.
