Oakwood's loss ends five-game winning streak at home

Recap: Oakwood Owls vs. Newbury Park Panthers

After a string of three wins, the Oakwood Owls's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 49-39 defeat to Newbury Park.

Kierabella Coletta-Todd continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Newbury Park, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it 18 consecutive games in which Coletta-Todd has scored at least 25% of Newbury Park's points. Greta Heath was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals.

Oakwood's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-4. As for Newbury Park, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Oakwood will face off against La Salle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. La Salle presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Oakwood in California (La Salle is ranked 25th, while Oakwood is ranked 201st). As for Newbury Park, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Oaks Christian at 7:00 p.m. Oaks Christian is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
