Baseball Recap: Twiggs County Comes Up Short

Twiggs County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-5. They lost 18-1 to the Montgomery County Eagles. On the bright side, the one- run performance marked the Cobras' highest-scoring game to date.

Montgomery County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

For Montgomery County's part, Jackson Gooden was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gooden was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Montgomery County let Matthew Harvey and Alex Danly run wild. Harvey went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Danly got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Harvey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Williams, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Twiggs County will welcome Wheeler County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Montgomery County, they will head out to take on Wilcox County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
