Allatoona had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were just a hair shy of victory on Thursday and fell 28-27 to the Adairsville Tigers.
When it comes to explaining why Allatoona lost, one person who can't be blamed is Xavier Rucker. Despite the final result, he rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 88 receiving yards. Rucker was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 60 yards.
A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between Ethan Long and his top target Xavious Nalls. Long threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes while Nalls picked up 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Allatoona will look to defend their home field on Friday against South Paulding at 7:30 p.m. As for Adairsville, they will head out to take on Pepperell at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
