Carlisle hadn't done well against Ballard recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bombers, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Bombers since June 15, 2023.

The win made it two in a row for Carlisle and bumps their season record up to 12-6. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Ballard, they moved to 13-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Carlisle will head out to square off against Harlan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ballard, they will venture away from home to take on North Polk at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Comets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Bombers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
