Basketball Game Preview: Calipatria Hornets vs. Southwest EC Eagles

The Calipatria Hornets will head out on the road to take on the Southwest EC Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.

Calipatria is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Brawley on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Calipatria was beaten by Brawley 67-17. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Southwest EC was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 56-16 defeat at the hands of Central. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1292nd, while the Spartans are ranked 581st).

Calipatria's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Southwest EC, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-21.

Calipatria beat Southwest EC 40-28 in their previous matchup last Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calipatria since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
