Preview: Upper Perkiomen Indians vs. Phoenixville Phantoms
Upper Perkiomen is 2-8 against Phoenixville since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Upper Perkiomen Indians will stay at home for another game and welcome the Phoenixville Phantoms at 6:45 p.m. on January 16th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Upper Perkiomen strolled past Pottstown with points to spare, taking the game 44-27.
It was another big night for Erin States, who scored 19 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Upper Perkiomen's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Kearney, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Phoenixville waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Pottsgrove 66-52. Given Phoenixville's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Pottsgrove is ranked 537th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Upper Perkiomen's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12. As for Phoenixville, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Upper Perkiomen was taken down by Phoenixville 64-27 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Upper Perkiomen was down 43-17.
