Grants is 0-5 against Bloomfield since November of 2019 but things could change  on Friday. The Pirates will face off against the Bobcats at 7:00  p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one:  the two teams posted some lofty  point totals in their previous games.
Grants took a loss when they played away from home  last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed  on Friday. They took down Bernalillo 32-14.

 Julian Fernandez had another great game (as  he tends to do), rushing for 155 yards and four  scores. Those  four  rushing touchdowns gave  him a new career-high.  Isaiah Ortega also helped out with an impressive 84  receiving yards.
 Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Grants proved: they limited Bernalillo to a paltry 1.5 yards per carry. The team can thank  Brandon Wheeler for the heroic effort on defense: he. Grants' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.8.
 Grants' defense didn't let  Ulisses Castro, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. In that department,  Gary Chavez was the leader with two.
Meanwhile, Bloomfield waltzed into their contest  on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Sundevils, posting  a  62-12 victory. Given the Bobcats' advantage  in MaxPreps' New Mexico football rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Sundevils are ranked 60th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Bloomfield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of  Markeith Childress and  Andrew Himes.
 Bloomfield's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Grants, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
The upcoming  game will be a clash of competing strengths. Grants has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 167 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Bloomfield has preferred to attack from the air: they average 282.2 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail  on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
 Grants took a serious blow against Bloomfield  when the teams last played  back in November of 2024, falling  41-6. Can the Pirates avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
