Recap: Katella Knights vs. Mission Viejo Diablos

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Buena Park, the Katella Knights were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 48-40 victory over Mission Viejo. This was payback for Katella, who suffered a 38-32 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Mission Viejo's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sofia Gozzo, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Gozzo scored a full 32.5% of Mission Viejo's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Emma Hambel was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.

Katella pushed their record up to 6-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Mission Viejo, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Coincidentally, Katella and Mission Viejo will both be playing Laguna Hills the next time they take the court. Mission Viejo will host Laguna Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Katella will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
