Soccer Game Preview: Holy Spirit Prep vs. Heritage

The Holy Spirit Prep Cougars will take on the Heritage Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Heritage will be up against a hot Holy Spirit Prep squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Cougars put the hurt on LaGrange Academy with a sharp 10-1 win on Tuesday. Given Holy Spirit Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 68th, while LaGrange Academy are ranked 377th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Heritage waltzed into their match on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their defense stepped up to hand the Eagles a 10-0 shutout. Breaux Rusich was a massive factor in the win as he booted in three goals all by himself.

Holy Spirit Prep pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those four contests. As for Heritage, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.

Holy Spirit Prep was able to grind out a solid win over Heritage in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
