Football Recap: Washington Skates Past Glenoak with Ease

Washington won the last time they faced GlenOak and things went their way on Friday too. The Tigers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Golden Eagles 44-10. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 146th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Washington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mandwel Patterson led the charge by throwing for 200 yards and four TDs while completing 76.2% of his passes. Those 200 passing yards gave Patterson a new career-high. Giorgio Jackson Jr was another key receiver, picking up 72 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Another reason for the win was Washington's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Ja'Dyn Williams and Devaughn Williams, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece. Washington got some further help from Ja'Dyn: he picked up 0.5 sacks and made 12 total tackles (2.5 for loss).

The win got Washington back to even at 1-1. As for GlenOak, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington will challenge Rabun Gap-Nacoochee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for GlenOak, they will face off against East Tech at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
