Soccer Game Preview: Los Alamitos vs. Huntington Beach

The Los Alamitos Griffins will head out to challenge the Huntington Beach Oilers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Los Alamitos' defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Fountain Valley. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Griffins were the better team in the second half.

Zamorah Malinoski and Baylee Fernley scored both of Los Alamitos' goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Meanwhile, Huntington Beach earned a 2-0 win over Marina last Tuesday. Given the Oilers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Vikings are ranked 504th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Huntington Beach is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those nine matchups. As for Los Alamitos, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5-3.
