Baseball Game Preview: O'Connor Eagles vs. Chandler Wolves

The O'Connor Eagles will take on the Chandler Wolves in a tournament on Friday. O'Connor will be strutting in after a victory while Chandler will be coming in after a loss.

O'Connor had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Mesquite on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 9-0 shutout. The Eagles not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2025 (when they won 10-1).

Ayden McGinnis got the start for O'Connor and what a start it was: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave McGinnis a new career-high.

At the plate, Tommy Pascanu was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Knight, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Chandler didn't have quite enough to beat Notre Dame Prep on Thursday and fell 4-2.

Chandler also got a good showing from Jesus Lopez, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Chandler saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jace Harrell, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Chandler's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for O'Connor, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

O'Connor got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in February of 2025 against Chandler by a conclusive 9-1 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
