Martin County dropped down to 6-3 on Friday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins. They and the Northeastern Eagles were almost perfectly matched up, but the Gators suffered a 14-13 defeat. The matchup marked the Gators' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

As for Northeastern, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.3 points on average over those games.

The critical scores for Northeastern came from Jaylin Mallory and Da'Mari Mcneill.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Martin County is set to square off against their familiar foe Hertford County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Jah Sheppard and Ayden Everette. Meanwhile, Northeastern will take on rival Pasquotank County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Eagles 14.9, the Panthers 10.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
