Basketball Recap: Mount Union Takes a Loss

Mount Union played a tough contest on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Tussey Mountain Titans 54-22. The loss continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Titans: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Mount Union still got an impressive performance from Maddie Dimoff, who went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points and five steals. That was a full 59.1% of Mount Union's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailyn Skopic, who earned four points.

Tussey Mountain was led to victory by Adyson Weyandt and Karah Husick. Weyandt dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten steals, while Husick went 7 for 10 on her way to 16 points and four steals. Husick has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brianna Gabrielson, who went 5 of 8 en route to 11 points.

Mount Union's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Tussey Mountain, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Union has already played their next game (against Northern Bedford County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Tussey Mountain will head out to face off against Juniata Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Juniata Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
