Las Cruces faced Alamogordo in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Bulldawgs claimed a resounding 47-0 victory over the Tigers. The Bulldawgs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 25 points or more this season.

Las Cruces' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Amaro, who rushed for 101 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries, and also picked up 41 receiving yards and one score. Another passer making a difference was Gunnar Guardiola, who threw for 244 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 passes.

Las Cruces didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Denton Walter. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 21. Another thorn in Alamogordo's side was Hunter Parmeter, who made 21 total tackles.

Las Cruces' victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.8 points on average over those games. As for Alamogordo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Las Cruces will head out to challenge Carlsbad at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 907 yards in their previous games. As for Alamogordo, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Clovis at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
