Basketball Game Preview: McNair Eagles vs. Del Oro Golden Eagles

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the McNair Eagles take on the Del Oro Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday... Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

McNair is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Everything went their way against Rodriguez on Monday as McNair made off with a 72-47 victory. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Eagles had established a 24 point advantage.

McNair can attribute much of their success to Kalysa Phanhsavang, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 assists, and Anjulie Navarro, who went 8 of 17 on her way to 23 points and seven steals. That's the most assists Phanhsavang has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Do, who posted ten points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Del Oro earned a 46-35 win over Rocklin on Friday.

Del Oro is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for McNair, they moved to 7-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
