Marion are taking a road trip to square off against Farwell at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Marion came out on top against Traverse City Christian on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Eagles blew past the Sabres 11-3. Considering the Eagles have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Farwell not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2nd (when they won 17-1). They never let Coleman get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Conner Cousineau made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Farwell let Hunter Edlin and Asher Yarhouse run wild. Edlin went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Yarhouse got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Yarhouse has posted since back in April. Mason Esterline was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Farwell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.
Marion's record is now 12-6. As for Farwell, their record now sits at 14-18.
Marion couldn't quite finish off Farwell in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can Marion avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
