Football Game Preview: Thomas Sumter Academy Generals vs. American Leadership Academy Patriots

The Thomas Sumter Academy Generals will face off against the American Leadership Academy Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Thomas Sumter Academy's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Lee Academy by a score of 12-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Generals.

A big part of Thomas Sumter Academy's win came down to the chemistry between Jace Williams and his top target Christian Williams. Jace threw for 310 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes while Christian picked up 126 receiving yards and one score. Christian has become a key player for Thomas Sumter Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 80 receiving yards, but 0-3 otherwise.

One reason for the win was Thomas Sumter Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Shawn Wrigley with two.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for American Leadership Academy's offense. They lost 22-0 to Ridge Spring-Monetta two weeks ago. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

American Leadership Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Thomas Sumter Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
