Softball Recap: Nevada Cubs vs. Perry Bluejays
Nevada had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-14 to make it 11. They lost 12-2 to the Perry Bluejays. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bluejays this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-1 on June 4th.
As for Perry, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8-1. The contest marked their most dominant victory of the season so far.
For Perry's part, Christina Kanealy spent all four innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits. Kanealy has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ayden Erickson, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Jaylyn Robb was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Nevada will challenge Grand View Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Perry, they are taking a road trip to face off against Roland-Story at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
